Of course Jesus isn't good enough. He had long hair and a beard. He visited cermons in synagogues and in the temple. Today he would have been DF'd right away.

Apostates are Perverts!!!
by His Excellency in.
last sunday's public talk was about tools the devil uses to tear down our faith, and as usual; apostacy, false teaching and erroneous thinking came up in the point, and the speaker went on and on, accusing apostates of being perverts and aspiring to live a life of debauchery which couldn't be tolerated amongst jehovah's people.. he further went on stating that if eventually apostates get into the world, they often find themselves not being able to mix up with satan's system as a result of the bible based understanding which they had acquired, and they ended up getting bitter and wasting their lives .
those words were quite frightenning, i never heard it this strong before!!

In other words, the JW-lifestyle makes people lacking skills they need to function in the normal world. I think he is right regarding this.

Jesus didn't care about chronologies and bible knowledge--why should we?
by humbled inwhen i read the gospels, i don't find a bunch of numbers.
i loved that jesus talked in a way that left me wide open to respond to god.
"love god with your whole heart, mind, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself".

"The JWs acted as if they were so special and imagined they had some special insider knowledge with all these little nuggets of doubtful value. "
Spot on Long Hait!
Every cult must clain that they have some unique knowledge/information that makes the cult representing the TRUTH.
Humbled...nice to hear you can laugh at it, even when you have a hard time.

Do you think Jesus WANTED to be turned into a religion?
by humbled instuff that has happened to me and people of other religions that i've met and read about--it makes me wonder if the caretakers of "holy writings" haven't bent us with their theology and pedantry.. i don't think jesus wanted us to make a religion.. he offered an experience of faith that was first and foremost an invitation.
the gospels--even if half diluted with error can't dispel the experiences we feel if we accept these words at face value: john 7:17-18.. i can't stay on- going to doctors today.. thanks.

Probably he was the leader of a small judaistic apocalyptic cult. Maybe was megalomaniac.
Remember, the last eatser he was riding that donkey into Jerusalem, people cheering their Hosanna...and then, something went terribly wrong. He got arrested and executed, and he hadn't bothered informing his deciples about those thing that happened that last easter.
If he planned to give his life for mankind, why the heck didn't he teach about that in his preachings?

In a way I think Booket-T is right. The best thing is to forget and move on..and the worst thing for each person is acting the "victim role". Nevertheless the JW-organisation has been an important thing in ours lives, and most of us have relatives and friends left in the organisation.
I was also a bit surprized when I started reading at this forum...I asked myself, why the heck are people here reading the WT and Awake magzines? I don't mind that they do, but I wouldn't do it, I find those mags very boring. But it might be a good thing exposing certain phrases to the public. But one have to be careful to not be an "Apostate Don Quijote".
And yes, for the mental health of the partisipants of tis forum I think it would be better if we discussed more of non_JW-related topics, like nice apostafests for instance!
But, Booker, you are free to start some cunstructive threads!

"The WT to offer to pay for their medical bill??? In what Universe would that happen?"
As we discussed the other day, the woman didn't represent the WTS...she was just doing "personal ministry". She will not get a dime from the WTS. This is one of the reason why the field cirkus is "personal ministry".

In that case; why did he bother create billions of solar systems with planets?
